Trusting God: Simple, But Not Easy

“Trust in the Lord.”
It sounds so simple — and so straightforward. But in practice, it’s anything but easy.

To truly trust in God, we must give up something most of us cling to tightly: control.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
(Proverbs 3:5–6)

Lean Not on Your Own Understanding

We are not God.
And yet, we often act like we know exactly what God should be doing. We pray from a place of limited understanding, and when things don’t go our way, we question Him. We may even get angry.

But that’s not trust.

True trust means submitting to God’s will and His sovereignty — in all things and all situations.

Rather than demanding our way, we pray:

“Your will be done, not mine.”

Submission Leads to Freedom and Peace

Imagine being Moses — wandering in the desert for 40 years.
Decade after decade, waiting on God’s promise to be fulfilled.

This wasn’t the plan Moses had in mind. But it was God’s plan. And Moses accepted it. In his submission, he found peace.

Are you willing to wander in the desert — for 40 years? Or even 40 days?

If we can shift our mindset to trust and submit to God, a new world opens up.
A world with less anxiety, less bitterness, and more peace.

When we trust in God’s sovereignty, we can accept the world as it is — not as we wish it would be — because we know how the story ends:
God wins.

Worry Is Replaced by Certainty

We live in an age of constant information — and constant fear.

We worry about:

  • The future of technology
  • The safety of our children
  • The outcome of elections
  • A world that feels out of control

But instead of modeling fear, we should be teaching our children to trust God completely.

If we truly trust God in all things… why are we so afraid?

A Challenge for the Week: Trust God 100%

Here’s a simple but powerful exercise:

  1. Write down everything you’re worried about.
  2. Hand that list over to God.
  3. Pray: “Lord, not my will, but Yours be done.”

Then live in the joy and freedom of knowing that He is in control — and you are not.

You may be surprised by how much peace you feel when you release your worries and fully trust in the Lord.

Final Thought

Trusting in God isn’t about having all the answers.
It’s about knowing the One who does.

And when you trust Him completely, you can begin to live the full and abundant life that He has planned for you.
